Dr. Lori Alasantro is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist (ABPP-CN) at The Neurology Center of Southern California, one of the largest outpatient neurology practices in the region. She specializes in comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation and differential diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders, traumatic brain injury, movement disorders, stroke, and complex neurological and psychiatric conditions.
Dr. Alasantro earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with specialization in neuropsychology through the APA-accredited San Diego State University/University of California San Diego Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. She completed her clinical neuropsychology internship at the VA San Diego Healthcare System, where she received advanced training in neuropsychological assessment, cognitive rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Prior to joining The Neurology Center in 2016, Dr. Alasantro completed a competitive NIMH-funded T32 Fellowship in Biological Psychiatry and Neuroscience at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Her research focused on stress resilience, mindfulness, and optimal performance in elite performers, including Special Operations Forces personnel, Olympic athletes, and professional athletes.
Her clinical practice includes evaluation of memory disorders, concussion and traumatic brain injury, movement disorders, and other neurological conditions. She also performs pre-surgical neuropsychological evaluations for deep brain stimulation (DBS) and other medical procedures. In addition, her practice has expanded to include NFL and NCAA neuropsychological evaluations and sports-related concussion assessment. She currently serves as an NFL Concussion Settlement Program Network Provider and NCAA Medical Monitoring Program Network Provider.
Dr. Alasantro has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has presented research nationally and internationally in the areas of neuropsychology, resilience, mindfulness, traumatic brain injury, and neuroscience. She has also contributed to Alzheimer’s disease clinical research and novel cognitive screening technologies.
She is board certified through the American Board of Professional Psychology and is a member of the American Psychological Association, National Academy of Neuropsychology, American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology, and International Neuropsychological Society.
Outside of work, Dr. Alasantro enjoys spending time with family, surfing, running, reading, and traveling.
