Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder and is characterized by bradykinesia (slowness of movements), rigidity (stiffness), rest tremor, and postural instability (gait imbalance). PD affects 1 in 100 people over age 60 years. At least 1 million people in the United States and 7-10 million people worldwide have PD.
