Dr. Baker is a San Diego native who completed his undergraduate studies at U.C. San Diego, where he also competed in NCAA Track and Field. He went on to receive his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences. He then completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Neurology Residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. In his final year of residency, Dr. Baker served as Chief Resident in Neurology. He was recognized for his dedication to medical trainee education with the award ‘Resident Educator of the Year’ in 2021. He stayed on at the Cleveland Clinic and completed fellowship training in Vascular Neurology. During his fellowship, Dr. Baker participated in many clinical trials as co-investigator and presented research at national conferences.
Dr. Baker joined The Neurology Center as a Neurohospitalist and vascular neurologist. His practice is primarily hospital-based, and he treats a range of complex neurologic conditions including stroke, seizure, autoimmune neurologic disease, and many others. His specialty training and clinical interest is in the delivery of high-quality care to patients suffering from acute stroke. Dr. Baker excels in the areas of advanced brain imaging, telestroke, and time-sensitive stroke interventions. He is fluent in Spanish. In his practice, he utilizes technologies such as distance health and artificial intelligence to deliver high-quality stroke care to the community.In the clinic, he aims to establish lasting relationships with patients suffering from stroke, with the goal of recovering function and stroke prevention.
Dr. Baker is passionate about helping those with neurologic disease through empathy and communication. He believes that each patient has a unique story to tell, which is key to understanding their condition and developing a treatment plan. He excels at patient education, and finds that education is the key to disease prevention.
