Dr. June Yoshii-Contreras earned her medical degree at the University of Iowa and completed her neurology residency at the University of Texas-Houston. She continued with a 2-year fellowship in Epilepsy, specializing in advanced surgical treatment for epilepsy at the University of California, San Francisco.
She is double board-certified in Neurology and Epilepsy by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as board certified in Clinical Neurophysiology by the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology.
In 2017 she began at UC Health San Diego, specializing in both surgical and nonsurgical treatment for epilepsy. During her time at UCSD, she became the Director of Tele-Epilepsy and started UCSD Epilepsy Fellowship Program in 2020, becoming the first director of the program.
She recently joined The Neurology Center as a neurohospitalist, treating patients with a wide variety of neurologic conditions. Her special interest is epilepsy, EEG, and advanced imaging.
Dr. Yoshii-Contreras is a member of the American Epilepsy Society and the American Academy of Neurology.
When she is not caring for her patients, Dr. Yoshii-Contreras enjoys salsa dancing, yoga, and traveling. She speaks fluent Spanish.
