Gary Gualberto, M.D.

Dr. Gualberto is a board-certified member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is triple board certified in Neurology, Neurocritical Care and Epilepsy. He did undergrad at University of Missouri-Kansas City. He completed his internship at West Virginia University Hospital and fulfilled his residency training in Neurology at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He completed a Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship focusing on epilepsy also at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.

After fellowship he moved back to where he was born and raised, St. Louis, Missouri and practiced seeing general neurology and stroke. In addition, he had a special interest in treating patients with intractable epilepsy. He also ran a dedicated multidisciplinary sports concussion clinic with Cardinal Glennon Children’s hospital which was St. Louis University School of Medicine’s primary pediatric teaching hospital. He was the primary sports concussion physician for elite soccer clubs around St. Louis area. Since his move to San Diego, his primary focus is Neurohospitalist/Stroke Director at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas where he treats neurological emergencies and continues to manage patients with epilepsy.

He has been published and has presented numerous papers. He is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology and American Epilepsy Society.

In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball, tennis, skateboarding, cycling, attempting to surf, listening to music and watching all sports.
